MSI Cubi 3 Silent - Almost NUC with Passive Cooling

In the comments to almost any news devoted to Intel NUC microcomputers, the habras invariably asked themselves the question: when will the NUC appear without a fan? In human terms, this desire can be understood: the noise from a small computer (and lately also a nice one) annoys much more than from a large one. It cannot be said that there were no such devices in history at all - rather, quite the contrary. However, the "branded" Intel NUC had only the weakest processors under the radiator, variations from third-party companies were difficult to buy in real life, and the products of unnamed Chinese comrades did not suit everyone.

Therefore, having discovered information on the output of the MSI Cubi 3 microcomputer in the news feed, we decided to share it with you - perhaps someone just wants to find it. Cubi 3 Silent is a product of MSI, a well-known and widely represented company in Russia, combining fanless performance, a powerful processor from the latest generations, a pretty appearance and a full set of modern functionality (and even a little outdated exotics). Under the cut - more information about it.

Computer MSI Cubi 3 is based on the 7th generation processor Kaby Lake. The company does not disclose its exact model, but by some signs it can be determined that this is an average representative of the line with low power consumption such as Intel Core i3-7100U . The device has an aluminum case with ventilation holes, serving as a radiator for the entire filling, located inside. And it is located there, in addition to the processor with the motherboard, up to two DDR4 memory bars, M.2 and 2.5 "SATA format drives and Intel Wireless Wireless AC 3168 adapter.

MSI Cubi 3 is available in two versions: just Cubi 3 and MSI Cubi 3 with letter S. The components listed above are the same for the two models, but the set of ports differs significantly

1 × RJ45 to COM

As you can see, the S model is designed to solve more complex problems, it is especially interesting to see COM ports in it - they immediately attract attention on the connector panel.

According to the developers, COM ports can be useful for connecting various industrial and specialized devices. However, the question remains whether the software will work with these devices via the COM port under the Windows 10 operating system - and older OSs will not be installed on MSI Cubi 3.

Cubi 3 is somewhat more “high” models of Intel NUC - I think it will not stop those who want to get the same functionality in a silent form. Please note that the model is also available in a standard case with a fan - look for the name with the addition of Silent.
