Necessary materials to start the development of a training VR project

In the article we will tell you in detail in what format the customer must provide information to the contractor for the development of a VR project and what materials must be provided in order to clearly describe the project of its idea. The task of the customer is to convey information to the contractor, for further work of the contractor with the material and training personnel of the customer’s company.

For a general understanding, we will analyze 3 options for transmitting information by the customer, the company of the executor, for the implementation of the VR project.

Option 1

The customer turns to the studio with a full technical task. Which lists the following information: a description of the equipment by which the project will be created, its photographs, examples of graphics and equipment diagrams. A full description of the scheme by which we will train employees of the customer’s company.

Example: The process of servicing and replacing an equipment board.

The following algorithm of actions is described:

Option 2

The customer understands what he wants and talks in detail about his project. Provides information about equipment and its components.

After which the development team requests the following materials:

Option 3

The customer wants to automate the training process in his company and thereby make it cheaper. He expects questions from us regarding the processes and proposals for the preparation of a training VR project.

For our part, we analyze:

As we can see, there are three scenarios:

First - the customer prepares a complete package of information from and to;
The second - the customer understands what he wants;
Third - the customer needs help.

Getting to the training material (Theory, Practice and Exam). The material provided will help you understand the flow of information material for the implementation of the project.

The customer provides the following materials:

The materials presented will help developers delve into the main idea of the project, study the operation of the equipment and the internal mechanism, which in turn will help us to note actions in the system that can cause significant / minor damage to the equipment.

The user puts on a virtual reality helmet and the following sequence of actions is displayed in front of him, which reflects the entire mechanism of the user's upcoming work:

Accompanying text - sequence of actions:

The user puts on a helmet and sees the equipment in front of him, but this time he will not only have a theoretical part, but a practical one. It is necessary to repeat all the actions that were in the theoretical part. The user uses all the tools, following the step-by-step instructions that appear next to the equipment.

The picture that the user sees:

Wipe the equipment and remove the shield is not difficult, but replacing the switch is already more difficult. When the user reaches the “Switch replacement” item, the following prompts begin to appear:

After the user goes through all the tasks using the prompts, the program puts him in the exam format mode.

The user carries out all the manipulations that were mastered earlier, without the use of prompts. The system at the end of the exam, evaluates all stages of work and displays the final assessment of the completed task.

Whether the user skipped a step, did everything right, or made a mistake during the replacement or check.

All data is evaluated on the basis of the material that the customer provides, it is for this that our studio needs to stipulate all points of the service process and which points are considered critically erroneous. For example, you forgot to wipe the dust - this is not considered an important mistake, but if you incorrectly changed the switch and your equipment damaged, the company will suffer huge losses due to this error.

Based on the importance of all the points, a program written by developers evaluates the quality of the user's progress through the task. And puts a grade with a detailed description of incorrectly completed points when completing a task.

In conclusion, I would like to say: “Before our studio helps to train your employees, we will have to dive into your work and learn everything ourselves.”
